Answers

What are the Internet Television Awards?

The Internet Television Awards are the awards where YOU, the Internet surfer, get to vote for your favorite programs and performers of the past television season.

Who runs the Internet Television Awards?

The Internet Television Awards cannot be run by one man alone. The essential operations of the Internet Television Awards are sponsored and managed by The Trades entertainment business analysis Web site but there's much more than that. The most important aspect of the Internet Television Awards, the nominations, are handled by the Internet Entertainment Writers Association.

Who picks the nominees for the Internet Television Awards?

Nominations are handled by the Internet Entertainment Writers Association.

Who is the Internet Entertainment Writers Association?

The IEWA was founded in early 1999 for the purpose of gathering together online journalists who write about the broad spectrum of entertainment topics and publish their work on the web. Every six months, the IEWA is asked to provide a list of nominees for consideration in the Internet Television Awards. The top nominees in each category are then put online for open voting.

Why hasn't this (show/actor/actress/etc.) been nominated?

Nominations are made by the professional entertainment writers of the Internet Entertainment Writers Association. Not everyone or everything can be nominated. The IEWA is committed to selecting the best nominees each year.

How is elegibility determined?

In order to be eligible, a program must have air during the past television season between the dates of July 1st of the previous year and June 30th of the present year. The program must be first-run and have aired on a nationwide broadcast network in the United States. In the case of limited run programs that span over the cut-off dates, the majority of its episodes must have aired in the eligibility period. The Web site TV Tome is used by the Internet Entertainment Writers Association to determine eligibility of programs.

Can I help pick the nominees for the Internet Television Awards?

If you think you should be a member of the Internet Entertainment Writers Association, send an e-mail to the IEWA. Include in your message the URL for the site you write for (ideally pointing us to something YOU'VE written) and we will get back to you with a response regarding your membership.

Why can't I vote?

You need to register to vote. Once you register, a temporary password will be sent to your registered e-mail address. Once you receive this password, you can log in and begin voting. Sometimes a firewall product such as Norton Internet Security will prevent you from logging in and voting. If this is the case, you may want to turn off your firewall long enough to complete the voting process. Your e-mail address is only used to verify your identity and to send you your password. It will not be used in any other capacity.

Why can't I change my vote?

As with most cases, once you vote, you're stuck with who/what you voted for. So choose carefully.

When does voting take place?/How long is the voting season?

Voting for the Internet Television Awards takes place in August and covers shows that aired in the previous 12 months.

Who can vote?

Anyone can vote!

When are the awards presented/Is there a presentation ceremony?

The winners are announced the day after open voting closes. But there is no actual presentation ceremony. The Internet Television Awards are still young and we aren't yet to a point where we can organize a great big awards shin-dig. Besides, even if we did have a ceremony and invited all the nominees, we doubt anyone would show up.

Is there an actual trophy/statuette?

We have indeed designed an Internet Television Awards trophy but a physical representation has never been constructed. We'll be sure to have plenty on hand in time for our first live presentation ceremony, though, whenever that may be.
